About Each Model
Elara PR118 ($911-$1,003): The entry point into Golden's range, part of the moon-inspired DeLuna™ series. A 1-Zone, 3-position lift chair with a seam-style back and pocketed coil seat, available in Small-Medium and Large. Rated for 400 lbs. No heat or massage options, but a solid, no-frills choice for basic standing assistance.
Comforter PR531/PR535 ($1,219-$2,445): The most size-inclusive model here, spanning 8 sizes from Petite to Tall/Wide. The base PR531 offers 1-Zone, 3-position recline; the PR535 adds 2-Zone MaxiComfort® infinite positioning. Weight capacity runs 400 to 600 lbs depending on size. A genuinely practical pick for hard-to-fit body types.
Relaxer PR766 ($1,946-$2,758): The original chair that introduced Golden's patented MaxiComfort® system. Features a distinctive three-pillow waterfall back, an extra-wide chaise pad, and standard heat and massage. Available in Small, Medium, and Large, all rated to 400 lbs. A strong choice if therapeutic 2-Zone recline is your priority.
Cloud PR510/PR519/PR527 ($1,946-$3,465): Three tiers in one line, Classic (2-Zone), Supreme with Twilight Tilt (5-Zone), and Elite with Twilight plus Nirvana massage and heat (5-Zone). Reaches up to 600 lbs on select sizes. The Elite tier is the most feature-rich single-seat option in this collection.
Cloud+ PR511/PR525 ($2,346-$3,403): A step up from the standard Cloud in seat width and comfort zones, offered as the base PR511 (4-Zone) or the Luxe PR525 with Twilight Tilt (5-Zone). Both support optional Nirvana massage with heat. Reaches 600 lbs on the Medium/Wide PR511 size specifically.
A lift chair is a power recliner with a built-in mechanism that gently tilts the entire seat forward and upward, helping the user rise to a near-standing position with minimal strain on the knees, hips, and back. It's not a standalone lifting device, it's a full recliner that also solves the specific problem of getting in and out of a low, soft chair, which can be genuinely difficult for people with arthritis, limited mobility, or recovering from surgery.
The mechanism runs on a hand control wired to a motor beneath the seat. Pressing the control smoothly raises the chair's base, tilting the whole seat forward until the user's feet are firmly on the floor and they can stand with far less effort than pushing up from a standard chair. All five models above use the same core lift principle, the differences come down to how many additional comfort positions the chair offers once you're actually seated.
The single biggest difference between these five chairs is how many "zones" of the body they can independently adjust, and this is genuinely worth understanding before you choose.
A single motor controls the recline angle as one unit. It's a straightforward 3-position chair, upright, TV-recline, and full recline, without independent control over the back and footrest.
These add MaxiComfort® positioning, which independently adjusts the back angle and footrest, allowing for a genuine zero-gravity-style position where your legs sit above heart level. This is a meaningfully more therapeutic recline than a basic 1-zone chair.
The top-tier models add Twilight Tilt Technology, which reclines the entire chair backward as a unit (not just the back cushion) for a true weightless feel, plus independent head and lumbar adjustment. The 5-zone Cloud Elite adds Nirvana Swedish Air Massage with far-infrared heat on top of that.
More zones generally mean a more customizable, therapeutic recline, but they also mean a higher price and, on some models, a longer build lead time since certain upholstery and configurations are made to order.
Once you know how the zones and positioning systems differ, the actual decision comes down to a handful of practical questions. Here's how to work through them.
If you mainly need help standing and sitting, without needing a deeply customizable recline, the Elara or the base Comforter tier covers that at the lowest price point in this range. If you want a genuine zero-gravity recline for daily comfort or back pain relief, look at the Relaxer or the upgraded Comforter tier. If heat and massage matter to you, only the Cloud and Cloud+ Elite tiers offer Nirvana air massage with heat.
Golden's sizing runs from Petite/Small up through Tall/Wide and Large/Wide depending on the model, and the Comforter series specifically offers the widest range, 8 distinct sizes, making it the best starting point if you fall outside a standard build. Golden Technologies' own sizing guide is worth checking against your height and weight before choosing a size, since getting this wrong affects both comfort and how well the chair supports proper standing mechanics.
Several chairs in this range only reach their higher 500-600 lb capacity in specific wider size variants, the smaller sizes of the same model are typically rated for 400 lbs.
Some upholstery colors ship faster than others across this range, and Golden Technologies lift chair recliners, being FDA Class II Medical Devices, are generally non-returnable once ordered, so getting the size and configuration right up front matters more than it would with standard furniture.
If you're still deciding between models, our full lift chairs collection covers additional brands beyond Golden Technologies, and our lift chairs for elderly and sleeping recliner collections are worth browsing if you have a more specific use case in mind.
